Changes of the Content of Auxins in the Dormant Radish Seeds (Raphanus sativus L.)

Abstract

|
It has been known that the seed dormancy breaking substances are gibberellins and cytokinins, and there are very few reports on the possible role of auxin in breaking seed dormancy.
Endogenous hormones of radish seeds were analyzed by Avena test, PC, TLC and HPLC when the seeds were dormant and non-dormant. Authors have taken considerable evidence that auxin levels rise with the increase of germination percentage; much more tryptophan, IBA and IAA in non-dormant seeds than dormant seeds.
